Billboard Removed

August 12th, 2014

SRA participated on the Appeals committee and the meeting downtown with the Board of Zoning Appeals to remove the billboard at 79th and Fall Creek Rd. We contributed $375 toward the funding needed for legal council necessary for the effort.  As you may know by now, we were SUCCESSFUL! This removal is important in setting a precedent, which will help create more strict sign ordinance regulations, especially considering the widening of 82nd street.

SRA proudly announces that we are the latest addition in the Adopt-a-Block program that is sponsored by Keep Indianapolis Beautiful!

Along Sargent Road, from Fall Creek north to 96th St., we are responsible for litter pick-up.  This is a natural for us since our Litterbusters team has been working along Sargent Road since 1997.  KIB provides us with grabbers, gloves and trash bags to assist us in our efforts.

Litterbusters has 20 "official" participants from within the SRA membership.  We care about the aesthetics of Sargent Road and delight in the views of a litter-free woods.  You may also be an active participant!  It's a matter of seeing the need for some clean-up and going out and doing it. The supplies are yours for the asking.

From May through October, each Adopt-a-Block group in the city is scored by KIB from 1 (indicating no litter) to 4 (indicating heavily littered).  If we earn a score of at least 2, we will be rewarded with free flowers each spring to plant at several community spots along our road.

SRA Hires IMPD Officers

November 4th, 2012

Sargent Road Association has hired IMPD officers on an hourly basis to periodically patrol for speeding and crimewatch along Sargent Road. The membership in the Annual Meeting audience showed passionate support of our hiring of off-duty IMPD patrols in the area.  They even requested more frequency of the patrols, and suggested a specific donation category in this regard on the membership/donation card.

Sargent Road Improvements

November 4th, 2012

Because of increased accidents at the incline S-turn at the northern end of Sargent Road, additional signage, cutting back of foliage, and increased police patrols are some of the initiatives now being undertaken.  Further study is needed to help reduce the incidents at this location.
