VOLUNTEER TO BE A PART OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD BEAUTIFICATION GROUP!

Before and after photos of grass growing in the right-of-way.

The Neighborhood Beautification Service Group puts in time along our shared right-of-way areas to tackle overgrown vegetation, keep sewer drains clear, remove brush from roadways and in front of signage and identify potential beautification or improvement projects that will enhance our community. The City does not have enough resources to stay on top of the much-needed mowing and weed removal along our roadsides and right-of-way plots. The SRA Neighborhood Beautification Group steps in when needed to keep our roads and sidewalks looking their best all Summer long!

Working in tandem with our Litterbusters, the East of Castleton Homeowners Organization (ECHO), and various city services (DPW, INDOT, KIB), this hard-working team also tackles trash, weeds, and road build-up on 82nd street all the way to I-69 at least once a year - making a big difference in the appearance of our shared neighborhood frontage!

Each Spring "The 82nd St. Crew" - our nickname for the SRA Neighborhood Beautification Group members that work on 82nd Street maintenance year-round, rallies our fabulous volunteers to tackle clean up the I-69/82nd Street medians and islands, creating an inviting entry to our wider community. The mission of our Beautification Group is to supplement the work done by DPW by doing extra mowing, trimming, litter and trash removal, etc. along the east 82nd St. corridor from I-69 to Fall Creek Road. Spraying and removing weeds, shoveling debris, and picking up litter are hard work, but the dedicated team really makes a difference in the overall look of this major intersection! We welcome your donations of funds or materials to help with this worthy, ongoing project. You can easily donate online by selecting “Targeted Beautification Fund” on the donation form!

It’s easy to see from the before and after photos above what a difference a few hours and some dedicated volunteers can make in our neighborhood. We invite you to join in, so we can continue to tackle trouble spots and keep our community looking its very best!
