2023 Year-End Reports

  • Land Use

SRA was founded based on a need to advocate against unwise development that would adversely impact the natural character of the valley and the quality of life for area residents.

  • Infrastructure

Sargent Road was again plagued by severe pothole problems in the winter of 2022-2023. This was the number one complaint from area residents.

SRA is involved in the DPW plan to resurface Sargent Road and address drainage problems contributing to road deterioration and flooding.

  • Litterbusters

For over two decades, the Sargent Road Association has strived to keep the areas in and around the Mud Creek Valley beautiful.

Our Litterbusters work diligently to maintain litter-free roadsides near their homes and, with volunteers throughout the area, we all enjoy the benefits of this communitywide initiative.

  • S.T.O.P.

Sponsored Traffic Officer Patrols is a contracted service that provides licensed police officers, acting with legal authority to give warnings and tickets.

Their presence is intended to foster a safer road through respect for traffic ordinances.

The SRA Board contracts specific weeks and designates a general area for patrols but has no other input into the police work performed by our contractor, Geist Patrol.

  • Beautification

Since 2018, volunteers have worked to improve and maintain the appearance of our right of ways with regular landscape work centered on the Sargent Road/82nd St intersection.

Increasingly, other neighborhoods have joined the effort. The “82nd St Crew” hopes you share their pride in our beautiful community!

  • Nature House

SRNH is a 4.66-acre property with a structure at 7851 Sargent Road that was acquired by the SRA in 2021.

After many community meetings, the best use for the property has been determined to be a community center.

SRNH will house the SRA and MCC Boards, community meetings, education, and social events.

This fall, a Capital Campaign was announced with a clear goal: A beautiful, functional, and lasting asset for the community.
