Historic Sargent Road and its neighboring streets are known regionally for their picturesque natural beauty and are enjoyed by residents, visitors, and commuters alike.

Encouraging respect for our safety-oriented ordinances requires constant monitoring and attention to issues that inevitably arise.

Sargent Road Association monitors crime reports in the wider area and supports neighborhood watch programs to help maintain safety in our neighborhoods. SRA installed several “Area Patrolled” signs along the length of Sargent Road, with the hopes of encouraging responsible driving and discouraging criminal behavior.

Sargent Road’s many turns and blind spots can create a hazard if drivers are not prepared.

S.T.O.P. - Sponsored Traffic Officer Patrols Program:
After a successful trial that began in 2017, the SRA membership consistently votes in favor of contracting with private patrol firm Geist Patrol to patrol Sargent Road and the surrounding streets throughout the year to help increase safety on our roadways. Indianapolis does not have adequate police funding for regular patrols of our relatively small neighborhood, so a portion of SRA membership dues is used to help fund this important program. Many safety issues are addressed by the service (which includes full policing powers such as ticketing, etc) and it is intended to encourage respect for posted traffic rules, stop signs and posted speed limits along Sargent Road as well as 86th and 82nd Streets, within our area of service. Detailed information and officer reports of these patrols can be viewed in our Annual Reports.

Your membership and targeted donations to our S.T.O.P. program will make a big difference in how many patrols the SRA can fund - and will directly impact the community in a positive way!

Please consider making a donation to S.T.O.P. today -
$45 will fund one hour of patrol time, a $135 donation will fund an entire 3-hour shift, (the minimum we can purchase from Geist Patrol), and $405 covers a full “S.T.O.P. Block” which is a set of three 3-hour shifts scheduled within a week for maximum impact.
