What’s News:
Construction on the Sargent Road Drainage and Resurfacing Project to begin as early as the 1st Quarter of 2027.
Indianapolis DPW’s SD-23-103 Drainage and Road Resurface project is in its final design stage. Originally planned to address the full length of Sargent Road, the scope has been narrowed to the southern portion of the road from Fall Creek Rd through the 82nd St intersection due to recognition that the budget was inadequate for the design and engineering challenges posed by the valley's geology and hydrology. The remaining portion of the road is expected to be addressed in a 2nd phase, but funding has not yet been secured.
The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) plans to bid the project in October 2026. Construction is anticipated to begin as early as January 2027 and be completed by late spring or early summer 2028
SRA continues its advocacy for the community by providing connections, information, and meeting with the design team and individual property owners. If you have questions about the project, you are encouraged to contact the DPW’s Information Officer for the project, Harrison Rice, at Harrison.Rice@Indy.gov. SRA also keeps records of information from meetings and public records provided by the city regarding the project and will respond to requests for assistance by individual properrt owners.
Mud Creek Valey, home to Sargent Road, is beloved by locals and known regionally for its picturesque natural beauty.
However, maintaining the roads and utilities requires constant monitoring and advocacy.
Mud Creek Valley’s geology, topography, and forested nature create challenges for drainage, road, and utility professionals.
Road Improvements:
Indianapolis Department of Public Works SD-23-103 is active in the early stages of completing the survey and collecting data for a planned drainage and road resurfacing project.
Sargent Road Association is actively working with our City-County Councillor and the DPW on this critical, and long-neglected infrastructure project.

We regularly monitor problems with sight lines on Sargent Road and coordinate with our City-County Councillor and the DPW to arrange cut-backs when needed.
Do Your Part:
It is the responsibility of property owners to clear debris along the roadside in front of our property such as deadwood, downed limbs or branches that extend into the street. Please be vigilant about keeping foliage low and/or clear of the roadway for safety and better visibility for motorists.
